Senior Director, Talent, Performance, and Development (East Coast preferred)

OVERVIEW :

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Senior Director, Talent, Performance, and Development will lead setting the strategy and vision of our Learning and Organizational Development, Talent Acquisition, and People Analytics functions with a focus on driving exemplary talent management practices.

This role will work in close collaboration cross-functionally with the executive team and HR leadership team to provide counsel and insights on staff engagement, organizational design, and performance.

As a successful candidate, you will bring strong subject matter expertise in skills-first talent management practices, together with knowledge of compliance, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to talent acquisition, learning, and development.

You enjoy designing and building talent and leadership development capabilities to enable career growth and foster positive staff experiences and engagement.

You will build relationships with external partners, internal stakeholders, and the executive team to foster alignment between talent, performance, and development initiatives and business needs.

You recognize the value and potential of leadership to attract, onboard, motivate, and retain staff as they work to close the Opportunity Divide.

The Senior Director, Talent, Performance, and Development will also interact with Year Up United students as a coach, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Team Leadership and Support

  • Set the vision and establish the strategy for the Learning and Organizational Development, Talent Acquisition, and People Analytics functions that will enable the organization to achieve strategic impact goals
  • Manage team performance and budget, including negotiating fees with partners, reviewing contracts, and identifying cost saving opportunities

Learning, Organizational Development, and Performance Management

  • Design the organization's talent development and performance management strategy to drive staff engagement, internal mobility, and retention while delivering a scalable approach to supporting leaders across the organization with coaching, mentoring, talent reviews, and succession planning
  • Strategize with leadership to ensure talent management initiatives foster a strong performance culture that advances competency development for all career stages and incorporates inclusive leadership behaviors
  • Ensure a comprehensive onboarding experience for new hires and internal career mobility
  • Lead the assessment of staff experience and engagement across the talent lifecycle by facilitating the benchmarking, design, and execution of surveys;

drive action planning aligned to survey feedback / insights received to enhance staff engagement and foster a culture of belonging

Partner with the Chief People Officer in supporting Human Capital Committee of the National Board of Directors reporting and leadership succession planning

Talent Acquisition

  • Determine the strategies, systems, and processes needed to effectively attract the best talent, foster career progression, and build workforce planning capabilities aligned to organizational goals
  • Define and communicate key talent acquisition and sourcing metrics, targets, and goals to the organization and senior leadership stakeholders, including but not limited to : time to hire, candidate experience, diversity metrics, and quality of hire
  • Oversee the assessment of all external recruiting agency relationships and vendors, such as Glassdoor, , and LinkedIn
  • Lead the exploration of potential external opportunities, events, and partnerships to further Year Up United's outreach, recruitment, and scouting efforts
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of hiring plan execution, level of partnership with hiring managers, and delivery of commitments related to candidate experience
  • Accountable for ensuring talent acquisition policies and practices adhere to employment law and regulations

People Analytics

  • Drive the analysis of people data and trends to design strategies for how we recruit, onboard, coach, and develop staff and people managers to enable career growth and strategic workforce planning
  • Establish standardized reporting and analytics to increase capacity across the people function and provide robust data-driven insights to inform decision-making by leadership
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of talent management programs and practices through metrics to continuously innovate and enhance the staff experience lifecycle
  • Partner with the HRIS team and other Human Resources sub-teams to ensure HRIS improvements are regularly occurring across talent, performance, and development systems and business processes, and people analytics are readily available, as needed by the business

The location for this role is flexible and is open to candidates in any city where Year Up United operates (https : / / www.yearup.org / locations).

Salary : $155,000-$175,000

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience
  • 8+ years' of people management experience including knowledge and application of human capital consulting focused on talent management, including recruiting, learning, and organizational development
  • Demonstrated experience consulting with senior leaders on driving skills-first talent management practices and action plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to coach and inspire others, garner buy in, and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders;

knowing how to lead by influence and empower others

  • Experience developing business cases, and facilitating effective storytelling with small and large audiences, including staff, people managers, peers, and executives
  • Sound judgment, a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion;

strong business and project management acumen

  • Strong aptitude in the use of HR technology, including application tracking systems, learning management systems, and people analytics (e.g., Degreed, Workday)
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Certified Coach or Talent Management credential preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :

Year Up United has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets.

For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.

Salary offers take into account a candidate's skills, experience, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

  • Vacation : Earn three weeks paid vacation in first year of employment; four weeks after initial year.

This is an exempt role (paid on a salaried basis).
