Overview
The Multi-Family Estimator is responsible for performing take offs and costing materials for wood framed multi-family, commercial and hospitality buildings.
Associates will meet with contractors and their customers to assist them in the estimating process and complete all plans in the time frame agreed upon with clients.
Estimators must be very detail-oriented, patient, and have experience performing take offs either manually or with approved software.
Responsibilities Essential Functions Create materials lists for the specific purposes of costing and purchasing correct material.
Will be involved in material costing in addition to performing take offs. Reading plans and creating take offs. Meeting with customers or making changes.
Competencies Ability to use discretion and independent judgment. Ability to review a given set of architectural drawings and estimate the costs for the various materials, hardware, siding, windows, and doors.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures and / or government regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals;
effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Word processing, inventory and spreadsheet software.
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment The incumbent is located in a busy office area and is faced with constant interruptions on a regular basis.
Physical Demands Requires frequent sitting, use of hands, reaching, talking, and listening. Periodically requires standing and walking.
Rarely this position climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches and crawls. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position.
Hours of work depend on hours of operations, 48 hours per week. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Qualifications Preferred Education and Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
