What is the Opportunity?
This role supports AML and Economic Sanctions Program development and implementation for Registered Investment Advisor entities and registered mutual funds including RBC Global Asset Management U.
S. and RBC Mutual Funds. He / she provides the adherence with, oversight, coordination and execution of various activities related to these regulations, responsible for updated relevant policies, procedures, vendor oversight and training.
This role will be key in the implementation of the Investment Advisor AML / BSA Program Rule by the compliance date. In addition, this person will support certain aspects of the AML Oversight of the Clearing & Custody business line.
What will you do?
Develops and implements the Registered Investment Advisor and Mutual Funds Financial Crime programs, including BSA AML, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Anti-Bribery / Corruption programs.
Ensuring that there are sufficient internal controls to promote fully effective risk management practices. Prioritizes focus towards areas identified as having the highest levels of risk to the company.
Second line of defense and advisory functions to assigned business units.
Regular review / comparison of policies and procedures related to anti-money laundering to determine changes necessary due to current developments and / or changes related to the Patriot Act, related agencies guidance such as the OCC, FinCEN, and / or FINRA guidance.
Monitoring and oversight of internal and external vendors engaged to provide AML related services.
Perform enhanced due diligence and periodic reviews of registered investment advisor and broker dealer customers of Clearing & Custody.
Develops management and board level reporting on the status of the AML / OFAC programs.
Acts as an internal AML expert in cross-function evaluation of policies, procedures, and controls from a regulatory, financial and reputational perspective
Develops new or updates current policies and procedures as appropriate. Consults with business units as to any deficiencies and monitors to ensure that required changes are made.
Identifies areas of improvement and implements action plans to remediate.
Participate in industry discussions regarding AML controls and best practices.
Develop and present tailored training to business partners.
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum 7 to 10 years of financial crimes / AML experience in financial services. Registered Investment Advisor(RIA) development of a best practice AML program experience a plus.
Advanced regulatory knowledge of applicable AML and economic sanctions regulations.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with business and compliance partners.
Adept at offering constructive challenge while maintaining productive working relationships.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to develop procedures and presentations.
Broad experience with AML / BSA Program implementation.
CAMs certification preferred

- The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $85,000 - $150,000 (MN) depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status;
- market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions;
health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
