The primary responsibilities for the Plastics Mechanic for 1st Shift will have the responsibility for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and tooling utilized in the process for manufacturing and packaging extruded plastic sheet stock and thermoformed lids.
The ideal candidate must be able to adhere to the first shift schedule of 7a m to 3pm, Monday through Friday.

1. Specific Duties :
- Troubleshoot equipment inefficiencies, downtime, or machine failures to determine proper course of actions.
- Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components, replacing worn parts.
- Determine root causes and corrective actions for equipment inefficiencies or failures to implement new standards or procedures to prevent future recurrences.
- Lubricate machinery, change parts, or perform other routine machinery maintenance.
- Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
- Coordinate with planning personnel to review scheduled production changes and prepare tooling set accordingly.
- Perform equipment tooling changes efficiently as scheduled and ensure product quality after changeover / machine ramp-up is completed.
- Maintain and inspect various production tooling sets offline to ensure proper function during production runs.
- Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
- Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
- Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
- Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
- Inventory machine tooling sets and components to ensure complete setups and backup assemblies.
- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
- Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
- Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
- Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components.
- Determine feasibility of using standardized equipment or develop specifications for equipment required to perform additional functions.
- Develop or modify industrial electronic devices, circuits, or equipment, according to available specifications.
- Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.
- Maintain equipment logs that record machine hours, performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.
- Coordinate with planning personnel to schedule preventative maintenance as required.
- Operate equipment to demonstrate proper use or to analyze malfunctions.
- Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
- Study blueprints, schematics, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation procedures.
- Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
- Work with manufacturer or specialized repair shop for equipment repairs.
- Responsible for compliance with work safety standards.
- Responsible for maintaining high quality standards and supporting food safety and product quality.
- Employees should have a working understanding of their role in supporting the Food Safety Management System and the food safety hazards of the job to which they are assigned.
- Participate in relevant continuous improvement programs.
- Participation in training programs as identified by SEDA management.
- Continuously improve self and department's performance.

2. Skill Requirements :
- Knowledge in 5S, TPM, Microsoft Office Tools, Mathematical Computations, Problem Solving Skills, Metric System and FANUC & Mitsubishi Controllers a plus.
- Knowledge of plastics manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes, such as extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, or injection molding a plus.
- Working knowledge of all site services including Compressed air, vacuum and chilled water.
- Fault finding and problem solving.
- Mechanical, Electrical, PLC, pneumatics, HVAC and general plumbing. and facilities maintenance.
- Additional requirements Skills or development of skills in the following areas :
- Coordinate a wide range of complex minor works projects with full accountability of all stages from initial concept through to delivery.
Liaise with Consultants and coordinate contracted workers.
- Good communication, time management and organizational skills, able to work well independently and be comfortable with using their professional judgment without supervision.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Involved with both long-term and everyday maintenance, they should also have a good eye for detail and possess the ability to see the big picture.
- Able to work with a strong focus on customer service, have good problem-solving skills, be adept at written and verbal communication, and have excellent organizational skills.
3. Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate Degree Preferred
- Minimum 2 to 5 years experience
