GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Compliance Officer II, Advisory is responsible for providing guidance related to regulatory compliance requirements in an advisory capacity and serving as a subject matter resource to all lines of business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Remains abreast of state and federal banking laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the bank.

This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

2. Collaborates with operating departments to ensure adherence to laws and regulations relating to new or revised products and services offerings of the bank.

This duty is performed daily, about 8% of the time.

3. Coordinates and offers support to the bank training department through recommendations concerning compliance training as they relate to the various compliance reviews performed at the bank.

This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

4. Provides senior management with accurate information to determine the banks extent of compliance. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

5. Manages compliance advisory tickets and requests by collecting, researching, and responding in a timely manner. This duty is performed daily, about 8% of the time.

6. Maintains confidentiality on all Audit and Risk Committee files, records, work papers, minutes, etc. This duty is performed daily, about 8% of the time.

7. Schedules meetings with the operating units and managers to provide information on compliance changes that affect their respective areas.

This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

8. Develops and manages strong working relationships with business units and managers. This duty is performed daily, about 8% of the time.

9. Performs Compliance Risk Assessments of business units and programs. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

10. Provides expert regulatory advice, challenge, and oversight on compliance matters to business units. This duty is performed daily, about 8% of the time.

11. Contributes reporting and escalation on compliance programs and risks to the Senior Compliance Manager. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.

12. Advises business units on remediating regulatory compliance issues identified through self-assessments, compliance monitoring, compliance control testing, internal audits, and regulatory examinations.

This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.

13. Cooperates with Third Party Vendor Risk Assessments on compliance related items. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

14. Serves as compliance representative and advisor for assigned business initiatives and special projects. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

15. Conducts the planning and due diligence phases of the banks various acquisition projects. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.

16. Trains associates by performing secondary reviews and monitoring work. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.

17. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.

18. Completes required BSA / AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly.

19. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four-year college degree, plus 5 years related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy / procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Five (5) years of related experience and / or training
  • Previous experience in the Compliance Department at a financial institution is required.
  • Previous experience with FIS Bankway Banking Solutions is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of DecisionPro and Trupoint Analytics is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work under stringent time constraints.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
