Computer Security Systems Specialist - ISSO - JCER

The Garrett Group is in search of a skilled Computer Security Systems Specialist - ISSO to undertake critical responsibilities at the Joint Center for Electromagnetic Readiness (JCER) in a future contract.

In this role, you will primarily be involved in conducting routine assessments of service deployment certification events and mandatory prerequisite training essential for supporting Combatant Commands (CCMDs).

JCER conducts thorough evaluations of venues, events, and units while adhering to established standards such as the Universal Joint Tasks (UJTs) and the EMOE Characterization Framework.

Qualifications :

Required Experience :

  • Experience as an ISSO responsible for training users on software and hardware usage for installation operations and tactical environments.
  • Proficiency in installing, sustaining, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading IT assets including data, voice, and video networks, LANS / WANS, VOIPs, and multiple video network infrastructure systems at various classification levels.
  • Implementation of data security measures, monitoring networks and accesses, performing vulnerability and risk assessments, executing security updates, and ensuring compliance with security measures.
  • Proficiency in standardizing, updating, and maintaining a media control program, ensuring policies, procedures, and processes are in place for media equipment, storage, handling, organization, and control within an organization.
  • Knowledge of securing and hardening network devices with current DISA STIGs standards, acting as a COMSEC Responsibility Officer and / or Secure Voice Responsibility Officer, re-keying TACLANEs, and updating Firmware.
  • Experience in updating and managing standalone systems and network devices, creating and managing system permissions and user accounts, performing regular security tests and monitoring, upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and computer hardware, and maintaining a repository of all organizational or system-level cybersecurity-related documentation (including ATOs) for systems under their purview.
  • Proficiency in implementing automated software solutions, planning for redundancies rollovers & recoveries of systems and networks.
  • At least five (5) years of demonstrated relevant experience.

Desired Experience :

  • Supporting evaluations, exercises, and events by providing IT expertise and knowledge, coordinating with project leads for IT support as needed.
  • Performing, coordinating, integrating, and supervising network design configurations, operations, defenses, restorations, and improvements.
  • Responding to internal requests for IT assistance, analyzing capabilities and performance, identifying problems, and taking corrective actions.
  • Supporting efforts to acquire, install, and support future networks, supporting the readiness of VTCs, and delegating tasks and incidents down to lower IT support as needed within their purview.

Duties :

  • Act as the CSSO ISSO for all systems and network issues within the assigned area of operations, including collateral, SCIF, and / or SAP areas, coordinating support from other IT members as required.
  • Investigate elevated issues, confirm validity, and find solutions related to complex issues.
  • Conduct switch and TACLANE management, guest and standalone system management, data backups and recovery, backend support, exercise and event support, ISSO duties, and delegate to lower-level IT as required.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, including security scans, backups, patches, updates, upgrades, hardware checks, and IT file management.
  • Implement security improvements by assessing baselines, evaluating trends, and applying updates to software, drivers, and firmware as needed.
