JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate area. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Certification or Licensure : Must possess a valid Georgia teaching certificate or ability to acquire.
Skills : Thorough knowledge of the best practices in instructional programs; thorough knowledge of research-based best practices, National Standards, and Georgia Performance Standards.
Knowledge of curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation. Ability to collect, analyze, and use data to plan for curriculum reform.
Ability to support the department’s vision, promote open communication, and collaborative problem-based best practices, National Standards, and Georgia Performance Standards, Assessments, and learner outcomes.
A thorough knowledge of the RCSS policies and procedures dealing with fine arts and world language curriculum. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Work Experience : Experience as a teacher and / or Assistant Principal.
PRIMARY DUTY :
This position is responsible for serving as the coordinator in the area of fine arts and world language and provides leadership for the designing, planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of district-wide curriculum, instruction, and school improvement programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Plans and develops criteria that will result in a continuous improvement of the K-12 fine arts and world language curriculum in all schools and for all students including students with disabilities.
2. Coordinates countywide the work of K-12 fine arts and world language teachers, including on-site visits in classrooms.
3. Provides leadership in the selection, procurement, and distribution of instructional materials, textbooks, and equipment related to the effective instruction of fine arts and world language, and the effective use of computers in instruction.
4. Coordinates in-service and professional learning directed toward the improvement of teacher and instructional coach competencies in the area of fine arts and world language.
5. Provides leadership in developing K-12 fine arts and world language curriculum guides, bulletins, and related materials.
6. Promotes, interprets, and coordinates research and development in fine arts and world language.
7. Uses assessment data such as state-mandated assessments, benchmark assessments, and student fine arts and world language portfolio data to improve the instructional program.
8. Assists in the formation of policies relating to the improvement of the K-12 fine arts and world language program and in the successful execution.
9. Maintains a library of materials related to fine arts and world language instruction.
10. Assists schools in the implementation of the K-12 fine arts and world language program.
11. Assists the personnel department and principals in locating and employing highly qualified fine arts and world language teachers.
12. Completes administrative responsibilities pertinent to the fine arts and world language program including :
- Compile and maintain the inventories of district resources to support fine arts and world language.
- Establish and maintain the budgets, including preparation of requisitions and budget recommendations.
- Develop goals and objectives for the fine arts and world language program and evaluate progress toward their achievement.
- Arrange and schedule local Governor’s Honors Program interviews.
13.
