The cooperative education experience can last as long as you would like it to. Seniors attend shop until May 30th and graduate in the first week of June.
As of now if the student were to start next shop week we have 17 weeks left of school (of the every other week shop). I realize you may need to wait for the student to be 18 and wish to start in November.
This would be the week of November 4th, giving the student a 14 week experience.Students on a true cooperative education experience follow the school every other week shop calendar.
We do have a Holiday Recess in December- Jan 1st and a WInter Recess February 17th-21st, along with an April Spring vacation April 21st-25th.
This does make the every other week flow a bit off.Cooperative Education has also provided industry the chance to "try before you buy" meaning several area businesses will have a student for coop and once school ends they may decide to hire the person on full time and keep them employed.
Others have decided it was just a learning experience for the student and the paid cooperative education experience ends when the school year ends.
Also a cooperative education experience can end whenever the company sees fit. If you feel the student has learned all that the company can offer, or if there is an issue for example, attendance you just need to contact me and we will terminate the agreement.
The student does get "graded" by the employer (yourselves) and we can discuss the whole experience further once you verify we will be moving forward.
