About The Position
Job Title : Nurse Practitioner Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation Job Duration : 26 weeks Shift : Day, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM Guaranteed Hours : Part-time, 16 hours per week Experience : Minimum years not specified License : Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner Certifications : Relevant certifications as required Must-Have : Must work half days on Wednesdays and Fridays, with flexibility to complete 16 hours per week Job Description : Create and implement patient care plans and perform advanced nursing duties within licensure boundaries.
- Monitor the progress of patients and intervene in the course of chronic illness. - Perform routine physical examinations to assess control or status of chronic conditions and diagnose new conditions.
- Evaluate acute and chronically ill patients and prescribe medications or administer treatments. - Complete discharge planning and follow-up care for patients with chronic care and / or medical issues.
- Perform minor surgery as training and competency allow. - Evaluate the necessity for referral consultations within or outside the facility.
- Order and review results of laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic testing. - Inoculate or vaccinate patients against communicable diseases.
- Maintain required medical records. - Document medical information gathered during patient interviews according to agency guidelines, policies, and protocols.
- Document assessments, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, and follow-up parameters. - Cooperate monthly with the institutional Chief Medical Officer or equivalent for medical quality oversight.
- Provide clinical direction to registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, phlebotomists, and other caregivers.- Participate in professional and agency committees and meetings.
- Attend professional institutional-specific meetings as requested by leadership. - Participate in continuous quality improvement measures and attend monthly meetings.
- Attend quarterly medical meetings. - Serve as a resource for patients and families, providing advice regarding health maintenance, promotion, and identification of health risk factors.
- Attend in-services or other continuing education offerings relevant to professional growth and development as a nurse practitioner.
Major Worker Characteristics : Knowledge of skilled registered nursing procedures, advanced nurse practices, HIPAA regulations, and state and federal nursing-related regulations and policies.
- Proficient in the use of equipment such as surgical tools, ophthalmoscope, stethoscope, BP cuff, EKG machine, otoscope, reflex hammer, and operation of a personal computer.
- Ability to handle sensitive inquiries and contacts, make judgments and decisions regarding patient care and treatment, deal with abstract and concrete variables, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and maintain confidentiality.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with patients, families, and staff, and understand and follow facility policies and procedures.
