  • The Research Administration Management Analyst is responsible for coordinating the Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) Research Project and DCM Research Consortium within the College of Medicine;
  • coordinates daily operations and research activities related to DCM Research Project and DCM Research Consortium; plans, organizes, and manages research communications between the OSU DCM Consortium Coordinating Center and the DCM Consortium site principal investigators, as well as communications with research participants;
  • develops all administrative and fiscal components of NIH grant proposals, and assists with writing and preparation of grant proposals for extramural funding;
  • assists with writing research protocols and manuscripts; partners with DCM Consortium principal investigator in the oversight of the preparation of budget reports, forecasts, and personnel management;
  • develops and negotiates NIH grant subcontract budgets; submits routine reports to supervisors detailing operational and financial aspects;
  • participates in the development of the short and long term strategic vision, goals, and objectives of the DCM Research Project;
  • assists with content and updating of the research web site; coordinates daily administrative and operational activities related to research studies, including the planning, preparation, and management of annual scientific meetings and conferences for the Consortium;
  • coordinates with external key research partners, including pharma, biotech and professional organizations; maintains tracking of study partner activities to assist the management team;
  • initiates and recommends new strategies and initiatives to increase research funding and collaborations; maintains statistics on projects for the purpose of grant renewals, internal and external reporting;
  • prepares data for presentations and reports; serves as the primary contact with the Ohio State University Research Foundation, and federal, national, and industry sponsoring agencies for regulatory, compliance, funding, and collaborative research matters;
  • evaluates and supports development of grants and other research opportunities including federally funded Request for Application (RFAs), industry studies, PI-initiated studies, and collaborative studies;

assists with of research efforts for IRB and other regulatory approvals, and clinical and community activities; and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required :

Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Education Desired :

Masters degree preferred

Required Qualifications : Bachelors Degree in health sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 2-4 years experience in program planning and administration required; considerable administrative experience overseeing large clinical studies desired;
  • supervisory and budgeting experience required; computer literacy required with considerable experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required;

experience with evidence synthesis and professional writing desired; preferred; understanding of data security, privacy, ethics, and public trust inherent to data sharing preferred.

Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

We aim to advance our understandings of the genetics of Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) by gathering a much larger number of DCM families for study.

The DCM Consortium was created as a new initiative of the DCM Research Project to achieve this purpose. Expanded by Dr. Ray Hershberger from 2012 to 2014 at The Ohio State University, the DCM Consortium successfully completed in early 2015 for National Institute of Health (NIH) support for the Precision Medicine Study, which completed the enrollment of more than 3000 participants April 1, 2021 with a goal to enrolling up to 10,000 participant families.
