The Opportunity :

Mattel is seeking an experienced Sr. Soft Goods Sample Maker to join the Soft Goods Team. This group is focused on supporting the creation of new product opportunities for Barbie & Dolls divisions;

by understanding the consumer, and trends that are then translated into successful product. This involves supporting and creating with Design and our Asia partners.

Team supports design and development with 2D and / or 3D models. The ideal candidate will possess textile knowledge, Gerber skills, pattern making knowledge and sewing construction.

Possesses ability to work on challenging and fun products as well as ideating new concepts with partners.

What Your Impact Will Be :

• Actively support new fashion designs to enhance the brand
• Execute on Product Design’s direction
• Leads medium and some high complexity model making projects; builds functioning SG prototype models from design sketches.

What We’re Looking For :

• This person would be responsible for making a series of sewn samples as design evolves.
• She / he would work closely with pattern maker.
• Must be able to use the industrial sewing machines -single needle, overlock, shirring
• Hand sewing experience
• Must have a strong understanding of theory and techniques used in flat patternmaking
• 5+ years of sample making
• Organized and detail-oriented
• This position requires that this person can cut the pieces from fabrics manually and must be an expert at sewing many types of fabrics

The base hourly rate for this position is between $29,20 and $36,50

This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
