JOB SUMMARY
The Custom & and Surgical Packroom Supervisor oversees the folding, assembly, and packaging of surgical packs and custom hospital linen to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with hospital and infection-control standards. This role is responsible for leading the packroom team, maintaining productivity, and ensuring all orders are complete, correctly labeled, and delivered on time. The supervisor ensures adherence to safety and quality standards while fostering a collaborative, efficient work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates and posts staffing sheets.
- Verify employee time clock punches and make corrections as needed.
- Creates attendance line memos.
- Maintain the union vacation calendar by reviewing and approving time off requests.
- Orders temporary staff as needed.
- Monitor production output, inventory WIP, and make production adjustments.
- Monitor team performance to ensure daily production goals and deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Supervise team members as they fold and assemble custom and surgical linen packs (gowns, drapes, surgery towels, etc.) per specifications and hospital requirements.
- Ensure the packing area is orderly and compliant with safety and cleanliness standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment and ensures safe use of equipment by educating and directing staff on safety policies and using all control points, equipment, and resources.
- Completes First Reports of Injury.
- Participates in Lean initiatives and ensure that you and production team members are following established LEAN principles.
- Works with the Customer Service team daily to ensure orders are properly filled and any approved adjustments are carried out.
- Conducts Quality and cart Audits and completes daily / weekly production reports.
- Monitor team adherence to infection prevention, quality, and safety standards.
- Communicate with supervisors and other departments to ensure available linen, smooth workflow, and accurate order fulfillment.
- Reports production progress to Production Manager.
- Training and onboarding of new employees, including how to safely use machinery, proper work ergonomics, and procedures.
- Report equipment issues to the engineering team.
- Reports supply requests to the Production Manager.
- Partner with human resources and the Production Manager to resolve employee conflicts.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of safety standards / OSHA.Proactive and self-motivated, with high attention to detail and follow-through.Good professional and interpersonal / communication skills and the ability to work and communicate in a richly diverse environment.Read / Write / Speak English.Bi-lingual a plus.Basic Technology (Computer Software : Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...)Ability to operate basic office equipment, including but not limited to :Computer / Copier / Fax machine / Scanner / TelephoneExceptional customer service skills - both internal and external.Good organizational skills.Energetic, self-starter.Basic math skills.High school diploma1-3 years of production environment experienceUnion experienceEQUIPMENT USED
