The Teen Education Coordinator ensures appropriate and effective academic programs are developed, implemented, and evaluated for members ages 13 to 18.
The Teen Education Coordinator is responsible for serving and advocating for all club members by providing high yield and targeted in the areas of homework help and core content programming.
Major responsibility is to serve as an advisor and / or mentor to members, in order to support the completion of the Life after the Club components.
Additional responsibilities include the oversight of assigned program staff and program budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Develop, Implement, and document year round education programs, activities, and events as directed that adhere to the Common Core State Standards, 21st Century Skills, BGCB Teen Ed Standards, and BGCB Education practices.
Monitor and coordinate an academic incentive system for the teen education department.
Monitor and support members who are involved in targeted programs who are at risk of failing a grade or dropping out of school.
Act as advocate to older teens (ages 15 to 18) and provide them with a variety of programs to prepare them to transition out of the Clubhouse.
Programming options should include, but are not limited to, career exploration, mentoring, and college exploration / admission preparation (College Club), Ready to Work University and Life After the Club .
Plan and implement multi day college tours for members. Act as the liason between schools, members and staff. Ensure all details, documentation and transportation is planned / secured.
Responsible for all aspects of the teen education program including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, supervising staff, maintaining program budget, implementing Agency policies and practices and securing additional program resources when appropriate.
Manage and oversee Club level Teen Education Department goals, which adhere to BGCB academic program activity standards as determined each year by Club leadership, Club Education Team, BGCB Education Team, and Director of Academic Success.
Supervision and discipline of club members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as appropriate.
Act as an advisor and / or mentor to teens ages 15 to 18. Will work 1 to 1 with a cohort of 3 to 5 teens. Will meet with advisee / mentee 3-4 times a month.
Will support advisee / mentee in LATC component areas. Complete all necessary evaluation, orientation, training, and documentation necessary for the program.
Foster relationships with a growing set of program partners in the academic success landscape, including local colleges and universities, funders, etc.
Develop, implement, and participate in collaborative programs and events with BGCB Education staff and Program Partners as appropriate.
Act as key liaison, and is responsible for curating the relationship for program partners as well as volunteers.
Support existing summer internship programs for members connecting them to employers and opportunities in their fields of interest.
Track all information needed for the club’s reporting requirements and compile reports required by the Director of Operations, funders, government agencies, etc.
Actively participate in BGCB Formula For Impact : Academic Success Initiatives. Which include collaborative team projects and program support from the Director of Academic Success.
As well as participate in on going professional development (trainings, 1 to 1 coaching sessions, observations, and supervision) from the Director of Academic Success.
Maintain a high level of professional communication both internally and externally.
Maintain knowledge or trends in education specific programming, career exploration, professional development, and curriculum design.
Orient, train, and supervise teen education department staff including work-study students, junior staff, and volunteers.
Provide annual performance evaluations for applicable staff in a timely manner.
Maintain a safe, clean, effective, and academically enriching environment.
Travel between sites and to activities as needed.
Other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demands)
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 1-2 years direct experience developing and delivering programs for youth; experience in out-of-school time settings preferred.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of trends in education-specific programming and activities, professional development opportunities, curriculum design and related resources.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
MS Office and web competency required.
Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work club hours especially as seasons and service needs change.
Valid Massachusetts driver’s license preferred.
