Position Summary

The Security Dispatcher is responsible for obtaining critical information needed to ensure proper and timely response to emergency and non-emergent situations at National Jewish Health.

Essential Duties

  • Operates telephone, radio or other communication systems to receive and communicate request for emergent and non-emergent assistance.
  • Obtains information regarding crimes, threats, disturbances, acts of terrorism, fires, medical emergencies and other safety matters.

Routes information in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Observes cameras and monitors alarms and radio networks.
  • Coordinates and provides information to law enforcement and emergency response personnel as needed.
  • Dispatches Security Officers to areas of concern.
  • Reviews shift reports daily for completeness and accuracy.

Assists in training new dispatchers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in telecommunications, law enforcement or criminal justice preferred.
  • Work Experience : One year of emergency dispatch, general dispatch, public safety dispatch, law enforcement or emergency service experience required.
  • Special Training, Certification or Licensure : Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. FEMA ICS 100, 200 and 300 required within six months of hire.

Salary Range : $21.00 - $25.00
