Summary :
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursingcare for the comfort and well-being of patients. The RegisteredNurse (RN) prepares equipment and assists physician duringexaminations and treatments.
The Registered Nurse (RN) administersprescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, andmonitors patient vital signs.
The Registered Nurse (RN) observesand maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, andprogress.
The Registered Nurse (RN)participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member orteam leader in the planning and implementing of patient care.
TheRegistered Nurse (RN) directs and assists in carrying out safeaseptic technique and procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) offersleadership and direction to all support staff withindepartment.
6NT is a 36 - private bed unitspecializing in cardiac care for patients who have had open heartsurgery. We see cardiovascular / thoracic patients that arepost-CABG, heart caths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and manyother cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
We also see generalmedical-surgical patients that may have a primary cardiac diagnosisor history with comorbidities that may need telemetry monitoring,as well as those patients needing critical cardiac drips.
On 6NT,we train our staff to detect medical issues before they become aproblem, so they can respond to those emergent situations quicklyand confidently.
We have many opportunities for assessments,patient / family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab value analysis andmedication administration / management.

Requirements : Education / Skills
Education / Skills
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care
Experience
One-year experience innursing preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, orCertifications
- CurrentTexas State RN License
- CPR (American HeartAssociation)
- ACLS required within 6 months ofhire / transfer date
- EKG within 90 days ofhire / transfer
- NIHSS within 90 days ofhire / transfer
