Job Description
Manages PSE's short-term (day-ahead and balance-of-month) power and gas trading activities to ensure reliable and cost-effective operations and to optimize excess capacity, energy and operational flexibility.
Directs activities in contract negotiations, asset integration, optimization, and transmission agreements. Dynamically leads the group and directs the short-term (within month) trading, contract negotiation, asset integration, optimization, gas transportation and transmission-related activities.
Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and / or field procedures related to work responsibilities.
Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

- Works collaboratively with PSE Dispatch & Transmission, Electric Resource Planning, Long Term Power Supply management, Energy Production, Major Accounts, Accounting, Risk Control and Regulatory Affairs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- BA / BS or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.
- 4 years in energy trading or operations.
- 2 years natural gas or power trading experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Pacific Northwest gas and power energy infrastructure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regional gas pipeline infrastructure, regional basis trading, gas storage inventory management and pipeline imbalance management.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating fundamental market trends, assessing forward market prices and developing hedging strategies.
Desired Qualifications
- 6 years in energy trading or operations.
- 4 years natural gas or power trading experience.
