Position Overview :

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Prefab Logic Engineering, you will start your career in a dynamic environment that emphasizes learning, growth, and the opportunity to work on innovative building projects.

You will support senior engineers in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems while gaining hands-on experience in a variety of project types.

Your initial responsibilities will include :

  • Assist in Detailed Building Design : Work under the guidance of senior engineers to design HVAC systems, plumbing systems, ductwork, riser diagrams, and related engineering calculations.
  • Support Quality Assurance : Ensure designs adhere to our design standards and comply with industry standards and federal, state, and local codes.
  • Participate in Learning and Development : Engage in continuous learning, keeping up with industry advancements and best practices.

Contribute to refining our design standards and technical documentation for our SharePoint Knowledge Base.

Grow with the Team : Participate in mentorship opportunities, gradually assuming more responsibility for project execution, design oversight, and documentation.

This position requires in-office work at our Nampa, Idaho, and McKinney, Texas locations, fostering collaboration and team integration.

As you grow in this role, you will develop the skills needed to :

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) (1 to 4 years) : Progress to an EIT role, where you will take on more complex project responsibilities and deepen your technical expertise in HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) (4+ years) : After gaining sufficient experience and obtaining your PE license, move into the role of a Licensed Mechanical Engineer, where you will oversee projects, provide technical guidance, and serve as the signing engineer on assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience : 0 to 2 years of building design experience, specializing in HVAC or plumbing.
  • Technical Skills : Familiarity with Revit and Bluebeam.
  • Code Knowledge : Basic understanding of industry codes, including the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), International Building Code (IBC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), and ASHRAE Standards.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Building Design : Experience with or interest in building design.
  • Modular Construction : Exposure to or interest in modular construction.

Skills & Abilities :

  • Team Player : Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing clarity and directness.
  • Adaptability : Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.

Compensation :

$65,000 to $75,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package.
