Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to optimize the use of equipment like condensers, pumps, towers, and compressors.
- Monitor and analyze process data, identifying trends to optimize performance and reliability.
- Manage catalyst life cycles and apply engineering principles to maximize efficiency.
- Conduct tests and measure variables like temperature, pH, pressure, and more throughout production stages.
- Balance safety, economic considerations, and operational effectiveness in making process decisions.
- Participate in process hazard analysis, management of change, and capital project reviews.
- Interpret and create engineering drawings (P&ID, ISO, etc.) to improve operational processes.
- Focus on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives, driving improvements in process safety and emissions reduction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 2-10 years of experience in a refining, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing facility.
- Experience in ammonia, urea, or ammonium nitrate production is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with PSM-regulated processes and control engineering is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate with operations teams to drive process improvements.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Must be comfortable working in a 24 / 7 continuous chemical processing facility.
- Will involve working around industrial equipment, climbing stairs and ladders, and exposure to high temperatures, chemicals, and noise.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including full-face respirators in certain situations.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
