How Is This Role Important to Our Work?
The Consultant Relations Executive serves as an intermediary between Blue Cross Blue Shield MN and the national, regional, and local consulting firms, who work with employers in our market.
The Consultant Relations Executive is also responsible for consultant messaging on the BCBS Association and Consortium programs and solutions.
They will work to build and maintain strong relationships and trust with the targeted consultant leadership and individual consultants, encouraging partnership with our company and sales team, and developing greater alignment and opportunities in the market.
They will also serve as our company contact to answer questions and resolve any issues that arise between us and consultants.
Collaboration with internal teams, such as sales, operations, underwriting, claims, and customer service, is essential to align the delivery of the insurance product and services with the client's goals and objectives.
A Day in the Life :
- Develop a broad network of contacts across national, local and regional consulting houses and maintain strong relationships with them through regular communication, meetings and presentations.
- Create and manage a process to routinely distribute important information and insights to consulting houses and consultants to support their awareness of BCBSMN capabilities, including legislative and regulatory updates, market solutions, vendor details, upcoming agent trainings, and medical policy updates.
- Serve on BCBS Association (BCBSA) and Consortium Health Plan (CHP) Consultant and Channel Relations Committees and Meetings as our company's primary representative.
- Coordinate and attend broker, consultant, and industry events.
- Lead creation and maintenance of materials used to educate consultants on BCBSMN, BCBSA, CHP and other partner capabilities and programs in consultant meetings, programs, and events.
- Monitor and report on the progress and status of client projects and renewals, proactively addressing any risks or issues.
- Work closely with Sales, Product and Operational teams in maintaining and developing products, services and administrative capabilities that allow us to better meet their needs and differentiate us in the marketplace.
- Seek new opportunities to grow and expand existing broker and consultant relationships and generate referrals and leads for new business.
Nice to Have :
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Blue Cross and affiliates products.
- Successful sales and / or health plan experience.
Required Skills and Experiences :
- 7+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
- Currently possess or will acquire a Minnesota health and life license within 60 days of starting the consulting sales job.
- Strong knowledge of the types of insurance products and services available in the industry, funding arrangements, government regulations, health care cost drivers and trends, and competition's product offerings.
- Excellent intuition of understanding customer expectations and the ability to influence the organization to meet and exceed those expectations.
- Demonstrate building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and ability to build rapport and trust with external and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to establish matrix partnerships and follow through on expectations.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Overnight travel as required.
