Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics is hiring Chief Residents to align with the Residency Program, Administration, Clinical Care, Research, and Academics.

The role of a Chief Resident anticipates an average work week of fifty hours due to variation in clinic duty such as night call and weekend call.

Academic responsibilities account for roughly 2,080 per annum, and include; scheduling, staffing changes, resident emergencies, educational development, information relay, technical support in the Children’s Hospital, research and QI tracking, recruitment, and resident support.

In addition to your other responsibilities, enthusiastic participation in the educational mission of the Department is expected.

Minimum Requirements :

Medical Doctorate or the equivalent. Licensed / eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina.

Continuous) Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function. (Continuous) Ability to lift and carry 150 lbs., unassisted.

Frequent) Ability to lift objects, up to 75 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs.

Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.

Additional New Requirements : Ability to maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts.

Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
