Description

The Executive Director is responsible for the oversight of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), ensuring optimum quality care is delivered to patients.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, day-to-day operations, physician relations, and obtaining financial, quality, and supply benchmarks.

We welcome clinical and non-clinical applicants.

This is a full-time position working M-F from 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm at our Crosstown Surgery Center.

Essential Functions :

  • Direct day-to-day activities and operations of the Center with nursing leadership.
  • Develop and communicate with the Vice President of ASC Operations, Medical Director, and Governing Body regarding Center business, including operating budget, long-term capital expenditure plans, goals, standards of practice, policy and procedure manual, and job descriptions.
  • Seek assistance from the Vice President of ASC Operations and nursing leadership for clinical and management problems, completing documentation as necessary.

Help develop clinical protocols for patient care.

  • Recruit, hire, and train new employees per established guidelines. Monitor, coach, develop, and evaluate staff performance continuously.
  • Maintain collegial relationships with physicians, vendors, managers, and employees.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and address equipment and supply issues. Ensure adequate supplies and cost-effective utilization.
  • Analyze financial reports; communicate financial outcomes to physicians and health system partners. Prepare operating, capital, and cash budgets for the Center.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining patient safety, quality, and infection control programs. Participate in Quality projects and contribute ideas for improvement.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as directed. Assist in establishing quality improvement data collection activities.
  • Maintain records to meet accreditation requirements and ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction benchmarks and address patient complaints and service concerns.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures of the Center are accurate and utilized appropriately.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new initiatives when appropriate.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Center, community, and local healthcare providers.
  • Contribute to a team oriented environment through cooperative interactions with all Surgery Center employees.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to communications from physicians, leadership, staff, and patients.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration preferred, or graduate of an NLN accredited school of registered nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of surgery center management experience.
  • Experience obtaining and maintaining Medicare certification through AAAHC, Joint Commission, or other ASC accrediting body.
  • Strong knowledge of state licensure, CMS regulations, and accreditation standards related to an ambulatory surgery center.
  • If Clinical : Current licensure as a RN in MN or WI multi-state required. Current CPR certification required.

  • Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance.
  • Work in the clinic, office, or surgery center during business hours.
  • Travel independently throughout the clinic or surgery center; physical activity may include bending, lifting, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Lift and / or move up to 25 pounds frequently, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Work efficiently and productively, managing interruptions and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate and interact respectfully and professionally.
  • Prioritize workload and remain flexible to meet daily operational expectations.
  • Apply logical thinking to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Understand and execute a variety of instructions.
  • Effectively operate equipment and communicate using the phone system.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Travel to other work locations as required.
