The billing specialist A / R specialist will be responsible for all aspects of electronic medical claim submissions. An A / R Specialist must comply with applicable laws regarding billing standards and be able to operate in a team-oriented environment.
Checking benefits, running co-pays, collections and posting are a part of this position. Supporting the billing team in all aspects of billing, as assigned.
This is a 6 month project, where the A / R billing specialist will develop an appropriate work flow of the billing process, work with the practice manager and billing team to ensure billing is completed correctly and efficiently.
Back billing, correcting claims, developing a process for patient responsibility will also be part of this position. This is a contract position for 20-35 hours per week.
Qualifications :
- Knowledge of mental health and ABA billing procedures, such as coordination of benefits, modifiers, Medicare and Commercial insurance carriers, TRICARE, and understanding of EOBs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions in a timely fashion that are sound, accurate, and supported by the reasoning and inclusion of appropriate people.
- Must be able to prioritize and accomplish objectives as scheduled.
- At least three years of experience in mental health billing is required.
- This job is in the clinic and not remote.

Responsibilities :
- Submit claims for services with proper CPT codes. Follow up on all assigned insurance claims to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
- Process assigned AR work lists in a timely manner.
- Review patient accounts to determine appropriate follow-up action.
- Recommend accounts to be written off on Adjustment Request.
- Reports address and / or filing rule changes to the manager.
- Check the system for missing payments.
- Properly notates patient accounts.
- Take appropriate actions. (adjustments, letters, phone insurance, etc.)
- Scan correspondence and index to the proper account.
- Answer telephone according to team requirements.
- Generate and send out statements to patients.
- Respond to insurance company claim inquiries.
- Meets daily production goals as assigned by management.
- Run A / R reports and develops a billing process.
- Work as a leader for the billing team.
Skills :
- Knowledge of mental health Commercial Insurance, TRICARE, and Medicare Compliance.
- Mental health EHR use, clearinghouse.
- Claims Processing.
- Mental health Billing (3 years of experience is required).
- A / R knowledge and expertise
Education :
- College Degree in business or health management is required.
- Years of experience : 3 years required.
- AAPC certification preferred
- Billing and Coding certification required.
- Mental health and ABA billing experience required.
Training will be provided for the position, but the candidate will be required to have the skills and knowledge to work independently.
Working hours : 8 AM - 5 PM.
Job Type : Part-time, contract, temporary (possibility to develop into a permanent position)
Pay : $50.00 - $65.00 per hour.
