Our customer is seeking a contract UX Researcher to help support their business needs. This role is hybrid in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities
- Interact directly with game / app-development teams, turning their needs and goals into research plans which will usually be usability tests / playtests, but sometimes surveys, and result in a better understanding of consumer needs and the user journey.
- For playtests, manage them wholly : writing the plan, working with recruiting to find the right participants, moderating the study, and synthesizing and presenting the findings.
- For surveys, manage them from end to end : writing them, programming them in internal tools or Qualtrics, pulling potential respondents in SQL (or purchasing them from a vendor), analyzing the data in R or SPSS (support for this will be available), and writing the report.
Qualifications
- Bachelors is required, (Masters / PhD desired) preferably in Psychology or Sociology, or any degree plus user research experience (5+ years) will do too.
- 4+ years of related experience required.
- Experience moderating user research sessions and usability testing.
- Experience turning Qualitative and Quantitative Data into actionable insights.
- Working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
Distinctive Qualifications
- Video Games User Research experience.
- Survey writing expertise.
- Experience working in entertainment, media, or music publishing industries.
- Understanding of research agency landscape, especially agencies specializing in the entertainment / media research space.
- App development user research.
- VR (Virtual Reality) user research experience.
- Passion for video games and / or VR is needed.
- Experience with analysis and data modeling in R or SPSS.
