About the Role

We are looking for a creative, passionate leader to join our globally distributed team in the role of Technical Engineering Project Manager (EPM).

Based in our Bloomfield Hills, MI office. The Engineering Project Manager leads cross-functional teams through the entire product development lifecycle delivering premium audio amplifiers to global carmakers.

This role will focus on developing automotive audio amplifiers. Integrating hardware and software, bringing the product from concept to mass production on time and on budget, driving deliverables and resolving issues throughout the product development process.

It requires a strong technical background in project management of automotive electronics and on-device software.

The EPM is responsible for communicating customer requirements and guiding the team’s efforts toward meeting them. They serve as the primary point of communication for both internal and external customers for your projects.

They manage schedules, track deliveries and milestones, generate progress reports, direct drawing and documentation revisions, and coordinate problem solving as needed.

They will also be responsible for meeting all projects objectives including performance, cost, reliability and quality, and schedule attainment.

You will manage the complete life cycle of automotive amplifier applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive project execution from scope alignment through delivery.
  • Work closely with engineering leadership to establish and clarify product and program objectives to ensure development teams have the guidance and resources necessary to succeed.
  • Manage software and hardware integration points to meet product development and validation requirements, including early engineering prototype and production builds.
  • Manage budgets / spend and coordinate with internal partners. Estimate and manage program and product costs including labor, materials, tools, outsource services, and other direct expenses to budget.

Communicate schedules, dependencies, issues, and risks across teams and to all stakeholders.

Establish communication plans interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment on scope and decisions.

Communicate project status regularly to stakeholders including status reporting to the development team, management, and customers.

  • Hands-on management of engineering data bases including product release including creating Engineering Change Notices.
  • Lead and coordinate design / implementation efforts with internal teams and external partners, including creation and processing of SOWs / SORs.
  • Work collaboratively to discover and reduce complexity, bottlenecks, and ambiguity. Assess risks and find solutions to efficiently drive achievement of program goals.

Creatively develop plans to mitigate issues affecting project deliverables. Escalate issues as needed.

  • Partner as a technical liaison between customer facing teams and engineering teams.
  • Champion different project management lifecycles and methodologies using industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related technical field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience with ECU hardware requirements and development, including board bring up, environmental and EMC validation requirements, and using internal and external testing resources.
  • Experience in collaborating with software development teams, basic understanding of embedded microcontroller software development, in-vehicle bus communication e.

g. AutoSAR or A2B, software architecture, test, and life cycle using internal and offshore 3rd party teams.

  • Basic familiarities with automotive cybersecurity regulations such as ISO 21434 and OEM specific requirements.
  • Project Management tools experience with project scheduling and planning, budget tracking and project life-cycle management.

Project lifecycle management requirements management and ERP tool proficiency like SAP, Windchill, JAMA, JIRA, or similar.

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed cross-functional multi-cultural teams. Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels including managing up as well as across different cultures and languages in the organization.
  • Experience in managing external 3rd party development resources in a leadership role managing relationships, escalations and negotiations with technology, design, manufacturing, and workforce augmentation partners.
  • Exposure and ability to grasp technologies and engineering / manufacturing processes involved in product development of automotive or other related high-volume products.
  • System level critical thinking skills with the ability to lead a highly technical team of multi-disciplinary of electrical, mechanical, software, systems, manufacturing, test, and design quality engineers.
