We are currently seeking a highly motivated and passionate to join our team.
Your Role :
Participate as a wildlife / biological resources specialist and provide specialized technical support in the following areas :
oPrepare environmental effects analyses and lead agency consultation efforts for biological regulatory compliance / permitting (i.e., NEPA, SEPA, ESA)
oDevelop biological resources management / mitigation plans.
oConduct and lead wildlife species (birds, mammals, and / or herptiles) surveys and habitat (upland, riparian, and wetlands / meadows) inventory and evaluation.
oPrepare and lead regulatory compliance / permitting documentation.
oSupport regulatory agency and client interactions.
oPlan and execute land use / development monitoring for natural / biological resources protection.
Qualifications :
Education : Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences (Ornithology, Mammalogy, and / or Herpetology), Wildlife Ecology / Management, Environmental Biology / Science, or a closely related discipline;
preferably with an emphasis in Wildlife.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience in wildlife species and terrestrial / aquatic habitat
- Specialized experience with wildlife species and habitats (both species taxonomy and habitat ecology) in the Pacific Northwest and other western states
- Professional experience in the natural resources / ecological consulting industry is a plus.
- Strong writing skills and demonstrated experience in the preparation of biological survey work plans, wildlife resources reporting, and environmental effects analyses and agency consultations for regulatory compliance (i.
e., NEPA document sections, SEPA, ESA)
- Biological resources-related data synthesis and interpretations, and technical reports
- Competency with basic business computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of Pacific Northwest ecosystems
- Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills.
- A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Other Desirable Knowledge and Experience :
- Professional experience in the natural resources / ecological consulting industry is a plus.
- Knowledge and / or experience with wildlife surveys, particularly avian / raptors, amphibian, and small mammal sampling techniques and methods.
- Knowledge and / or experience identifying wildlife signs in the field (e.g., tracks, scat, nests, etc.).
- Experience with electronic field data collection devices and software (GPS units, handheld. tablets, and Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123).
- First Aid / CPR certification with Wilderness First Aid preferable.
- Ability to operate 4-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, UTVs.
Compensation :
Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range : $90,000 - $120,000 yr.
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role;
skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
