THE POSITION :

The Associate Director of Interim Housing is responsible for the program oversight of LA Family Housing (LAFH) Interim Housing programs and for direct supervision, development, and support of program managers.

Duties include but are not limited to staffing oversight and executing the Director’s vision for staff development, increased staff morale and retention.

The Associate Director will conduct program assessments, analyze program gaps, and implement clinical service models in partnership with the Director to ensure service delivery is effective, efficient and utilizes best practice models.

This role will ensure operational standards of care across multiple sites and will be charged with contract oversight including ensuring compliance and all reporting and billing responsibilities.

This position will focus on internal program and staff capacity building and implementation of best practices and models to meet the standard of care set forth by the Director, Deputy Chief Program Officer and Chief Program Officer.

WHAT YOU’LL DO :

  • Implement best practices and standards for Interim Housing programs
  • Supervise and develop direct reports, addressing HR concerns
  • Ensure compliance with program standards, enhancing policies and procedures
  • Manage program budgets, expenses, and financial stability
  • Oversee program occupancy and utilization across multiple sites
  • Coordinate service delivery, incident response, and program infrastructure
  • Evaluate program performance, identify staff and program needs
  • Conduct contract outcome assessments, service delivery reviews, and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with Asset Management and FMO for facility maintenance and compliance
  • Provide technical assistance to housing partners and sub-contractors
  • Address staff retention and satisfaction, implement development initiatives
  • Serve as a point of contact with funders and lead audit preparations
  • Coordinate with Community Engagement Programs for volunteer and donation resources
  • Respond to after-hours crisis calls and manage incidents as needed
  • Analyze incident reports, develop tools to reduce incidents
  • Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation support
  • Attend relevant meetings and generate necessary reports
  • Additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

WHAT YOU’RE SKILLED AT :

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Proficient in staff supervision
  • In-depth knowledge of HR policies
  • Skilled in public speaking and team facilitation
  • Expertise in program evaluation and implementation for support services
  • Familiarity with community-based organizations and homeless resources
  • Comprehensive understanding of homelessness and related issues (e.g., poverty, housing, CES)
  • Advanced clinical knowledge, including crisis intervention, safety assessments, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and housing first principles
  • Expertise in recognizing mental health symptoms, substance use disorders, and trauma-related behaviors
  • Resourceful problem-solving abilities
  • Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish / English (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Proficient in contract and fiscal management

WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED :

  • Master’s in Social Work (MSW) or Masters in Family Therapy (MFT) (preferred)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of social service experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in program supervision; knowledge of homeless populations and services, government assistance programs, employment, housing placement, mental health, recovery services, case management procedures, grant writing, public and private funding, contract and fiscal management.
