KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Develops, conducts and evaluates health education programs.

Researches, develops, designs and / or writes health education materials.

Develops, conducts and advises related support groups.

Develops and implements health education courses; conducts outreach programs.

Coordinates publicity for programs, events, and related activities.

May facilitate projects or activities related to attaining or maintaining accreditation.

Develops and maintains information concerning services pertaining to health education and health concerns.

May conduct or participate in research projects related to health issues.

Provides skill training related to health issues.

Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS :

This project is funded by the National Institute of Health conducted at Emory University entitled Mitigating the Effects of Structural Racism on Chronic Kidney Disease Disparities among African Americans .

The kidney health coach is responsible for a panel of patients and, in collaboration with other members of an integrated primary care team, helping patients with individualized support, providing education on chronic kidney disease treatment and care, aiding in achieving their health care goals through assistance in overcoming barriers, and navigating interactions between patients and the health care system.

The kidney health coach will be a non-medical individual with strong interpersonal skills (including being an active listener, having empathy and compassion, being a creative problem solver), proficiency with computers, and dedication to supporting African American / Black patients with chronic kidney disease.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor's degree in Health Education or a related field and two years of experience in an area related to health education, OR a combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in health science, biology, and / or public health.

Preference for those with personal experience (either themselves or a family member) with chronic kidney disease and experience delivering culturally-sensitive health education to African American / Black patients

NOTE : Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
