POSITION SUMMARY
The Urban Land Institute ( ULI ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and education organization supported by its members. Founded in 1936, the Institute has more than 48,000 members worldwide representing the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines, working in private enterprise and public service.

The Social Media Manager will be the primary lead responsible for developing and managing social media content that enhances ULI Global and America’s regional thought leadership, influence, and brand awareness.
This role involves creating compelling content, managing social media channels, engaging with the ULI social community, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and consistency.
The ideal candidate will be creative, strategic, and proficient in using social media tools and analytics.
The salary range for this position has been set at $75,700 to $80,350 annually. Actual salary will vary based on factors including experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
The range listed is just one component of ULI’s total compensation package for employees which includes a full and competitive benefits package.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Content Creation and Management
- Develop, draft, and publish 2-3 posts per week with a primary focus on LinkedIn, followed by Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
- Collect, create, and collaborate on assets such as graphics, visuals, and storyboards.
- Schedule and manage posts using Hootsuite or similar tools.
- Regularly update the social media editorial calendar, adjusting based on performance data and engagement metrics.
- Represents ULI as a global organization and can liaise with regional and district council colleagues.
Community Engagement
- Actively engage with the community by liking, resharing, and commenting on content from regional offices, stakeholders, and district council pages.
- Provide social media support to district councils, including advice on creating Canva graphics and troubleshooting Hootsuite issues.
- Monitor social media inboxes, promptly addressing and tracking incoming requests.
Operational Management / Reporting
- Lead weekly social media standup meetings to review and plan content strategies.
- Distribute user-generated content to stakeholders and employees to increase engagement around key events using hashtags and graphics.
- Develop and implement best practices and guidelines for effective social media management.
- Manage social media inbox and lead weekly content planning meetings.
- Develop and manage social media performance metrics dashboard and monthly report out.
Campaign Support and Strategy
- Collaborate with the communications team to create weekly content that aligns with broader organizational goals.
- Develop a proactive 6-7 month social media calendar in coordination with the VP of Communications, highlighting major themes, events, and milestones.
- Support bespoke campaigns focused on engagement tools for various stakeholder groups, such as the Health Leaders Network and employee engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to the downtown revitalization campaign by providing strategic recommendations and managing content delivery.
EXPERIENCE :
- Ideally 4-7 years experience in leading social media management for key organizational accounts.
- Strong creative skills with a strong understanding of the real estate industry.
- Proficiency in social media tools and tactics, including Hootsuite, Canva, and analytics platforms.
- Experience with paid social media strategies.
- Ability to create and edit graphics and video content.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, and / or other relevant fields.
- Prior experience working in a digital media agency and brand campaigns and / or managing social media for political campaigns.
- Interest in built environment (housing, commercial real estate, city revitalization, urban planning and development)
- An experienced writer capable of writing in various formats.
