Overview
E2 is looking for a transmission line engineer to join our team in Southern California (remote work is also available) to support several major electric utility clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing Transmission and Distribution Line design projects using PLS-CADD Software.
The position will work under the direction of the Transmission Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines, including material procurement and construction support through line energization.
- Develop routing and design of Transmission / Distribution lines utilizing Power Line Systems (PLS) software, PLS-CADD.
- Work under the direction and mentorship of a senior level engineer to develop design calculations, detail drawings, specifications, and other documents for the construction of power line facilities.
- Prepare complete design packages including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD for independent reviews by more senior engineers.
- Develop design criteria / basis and specifications for the transmission and distribution line design and procurement of materials.
- Prepare technical reports, project scope, specifications and line construction documents including Issue for Tender (IFT) and Issue for Construction (IFC) packages.
- Participate in discussions with clients and contractors and coordinating with various disciplines until successful implementation of project.
- Perform careful self-checking activities to ensure the quality of work before it is presented to senior design reviewers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience working in transmission design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
- Strong knowledge of electrical transmission system (69kV through 500kV).
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain registration.
- Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering, and leading teams.

Wage Data Per State Requirements
Salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
