JJYS Technician I - Part-time
Cedar City, Utah

A Juvenile Justice Technician's work with delinquent adolescents in the following types of environments :
- Short- and long-term secure confinement
- Multi-use facilities
- Community-based programs
Principal Duties
- Assists in planning programs for youth, counsels youth under supervision, and provides direct care, supervision, and control of youth in secure, multi-use and related facilities
- Works under moderate supervision with delinquent adolescents in short and long term secure confinement, observation, and assessment settings, in multi-use facilities or community based programs.
- Oversees delinquent youth in group settings, individual encounters, visitations and community involvement activities.
- Schedules activities and resolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public.
- Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and / or other written materials.
- Coordinates and refers services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and / or other community partners with families, clients, or patients receiving services.
- Assists full time staff in identifying and applying appropriate security, safety, and / or control intervention techniques or devices to secure people, facilities, property, supplies or equipment
- Communicates information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing

We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys being challenged while working with troubled youth. We are looking for a candidate who is available to work rotating shifts, which include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preference
May be given to candidates 19+ years of age.
May be given to candidates who have a high school diploma or GED.
