We seek an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) to fill the Registered Nurse / Clinical II, Interventional Radiology role, working alongside our dedicated team.

Position : Registered Nurse / Clinical II, Interventional Radiology (Transitional RN)

What You'll Do : The Registered Nurse in Interventional Radiology (IR) is integral to the IR team, providing specialized nursing care in a highly technical and precise environment.

This position requires adept management of patient care during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of interventional procedures.

The role demands a high level of skill in monitoring patients, managing emergencies, and ensuring effective communication among the healthcare team.

  • Patient Care Coordination : Provide comprehensive patient care and education to patients and families in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
  • Communication : Maintain professional communication with colleagues, physicians, and healthcare team members, using the SBAR communication format.
  • Confidentiality : Adhere to HIPAA and VPH policies, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Cross-training : Cross-train to various areas within the hospital according to policy.
  • Documentation : Utilize information technology to document care processes efficiently.
  • Care Evaluation : Collaborate with physicians and mentors to evaluate and modify care plans based on patient needs.
  • Infection Control : Follow Universal Precautions and VPH infection control standards.
  • Medication Administration : Administer medications per hospital policy, reporting any errors promptly.
  • Nursing Process : Collect and interpret patient data, formulate nursing diagnoses, and assess patient conditions.
  • Patient Advocacy : Advocate for patient and family values, beliefs, and standards.
  • Discharge Planning : Provide ongoing discharge education and plan effective discharges from admission.
  • Patient Satisfaction : Ensure a caring and compassionate approach, keeping patients and families informed.
  • Patient Throughput : Support hospital throughput initiatives for timely patient transfers and discharges.
  • Quality Improvement : Participate in unit or hospital quality initiatives and projects.
  • Professional Image : Exhibit professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communication.

What We're Looking For :

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in critical care, emergency room, or a catheterization lab.
  • Experience in interventional radiology is highly valued but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans collaboratively.
  • Excellent IV and central line management skills.
  • Strong understanding of radiology procedures and the potential complications and ability to respond quickly to patient needs.

EDUCATION :

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.

REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION :

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
  • Certification in radiology or interventional radiology nursing (CRN or CIRN) is a plus.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures, including but not limited to vascular interventions, biopsies, drain placements, and catheter insertions.
  • Assess patients before procedures, obtaining a health history and evaluating their condition and readiness for surgery.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures for signs of complications, managing emergent situations with quick thinking and professionalism.
  • Administer medications, fluids, and contrast agents as prescribed, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment used in interventional procedures.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-procedure care, potential complications, and signs of infection or other issues to watch for.
  • Document all patient interactions and interventions in the patient’s medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and efficiency within the department.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
