Position : Business Development Manager Freight Forwarding
Sales Focus : Air, Ocean, Domestic
Our clients are seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Sales or Business Development Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for bringing and managing a book of business while driving regional sales growth in import / export (air / ocean) and domestic / international freight.
The BDM will collaborate closely with the Branch Manager and VP of Sales to achieve revenue targets and promote the company’s services across a designated territory.
Key Responsibilities :
- Business Development :
- Identify and develop new business opportunities through research, prospecting, and customer visits within a defined geographical area.
- Build strong relationships with potential clients and close new business opportunities.
- Expand market share and meet financial targets for volume, revenue, and profit within assigned territories.
- Client Retention & Growth :
- Manage existing client relationships to maintain and increase market share.
- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction through regular communication and resolving any sales or delivery issues.
- Work with the Pricing team to develop competitive client pricing strategies.
- Regularly monitor and manage clients' credit lines within company guidelines.
- Sales & Account Management :
- Utilize CRM tools to maintain and update client information.
- Provide regular updates and budget reviews for management.
- Follow up with new clients after their first shipment and maintain strong ongoing relationships.
- Client & Supplier Management :
- Ensure customer requests related to commercial activities are handled promptly and at the highest service levels.
- Adhere to client service level agreements and ensure responsible client entertainment activities.
Qualifications :
- 3+ years of sales experience in the freight forwarding industry.
- Proven ability to bring over an established book of business (no non-compete restrictions).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal teams.
- High-level organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with CRM systems.
- A strong commitment to meeting and exceeding client expectations.
