The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court.

That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts;

and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Justin P.

Forkner, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

Salary : The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,200 but may be commensurate with education and / or experience.

About the Job :

This position serves as a Legal Analyst Appellate Case Manager with the Office of Judicial Administration, in the Appellate Clerk’s Office.

This position provides outstanding customer service while accurately and efficiently processing incoming appellate filings.

A Day in the Life :

This position processes paper and electronic appellate filings, which includes compliance review, handling filing fees, making accurate docket entries, calendaring due dates, and issuing and managing notices of defect and return;

such filings include notices of appeal, motions, notices, briefs, appendices, and appearances. Individuals in this position must maintain up to date knowledge of the Indiana Rules of Court, particularly the Rules of Appellate Procedure.

Filings are tendered through traditional mail, electronic filing, in person, and via a drop-box. This position must provide outstanding customer service over the phone and when assigned to staff the front counter;

customers include attorneys, judges, paralegals, self-represented litigants, and members of the public. In-office attendance is essential for front-counter staffing and meetings.

Individuals in this position are responsible for opening, stamping, and organizing incoming paper mail. Additional duties may be assigned.

Using Computers and Technology

Learn and adapt to new technologies within the Microsoft Suite as well as Supreme Court systems.
