Role : Project Controls Specialist for Rocky Mountain Region based in Salt Lake CityResponsibility : Supports project team by providing financial controls and tracking for all regional projects with Project Manager
- Utilize management tools, controls, and analysis allowing Project Manager to make informed decisions with accurate and timely data
- Leads in the overall project cost and schedule control efforts for all assigned Capital projects
- Initiates correct structuring setups to facilitate data collection and control monitoring
- Participates in evaluation and award for labor and material contracts
- Tracks contractor performance, processes payments and logistics
- Tracks and forecasts costs throughout life of the project
- Projects future project needs
- Tracks progress against budget throughout year
- Prepares required reports on financial and schedule status of assigned projects
- Understands and work well inside a team-based work environment
- Maintains a positive attitude
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
EXPERIENCE :
A minimum of 10 years in planning, estimating, and construction / maintenance management for a process plant or facility is required.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL :
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL :
A Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS :
- Broad understanding of engineering, construction, scheduling, logistics and financial processes
- Advanced knowledge of accounting, contracting, and procurement software systems and processes
- Spreadsheet software skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver to required deadlines
- Ability to work additional hours as required to support project control efforts
- Prioritization skills are required
- Ability to see how all the pieces affect the overall refinery, i.e., big picture perspective
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication
- Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations
- General proficiency in Microsoft packages Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, Access, etc.
PREFERRED SKILLS :
- General knowledge of procedures and practices for contracting field construction activities
- General proficiency in Primavera (P6)
- General proficiency in SAP
- General knowledge of Gated project concepts
SUPERVISORY / MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
None.
WORK CONDITIONS :
Office based with up to 20% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse / plant environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels tanks, rotating equipment, loud noise and vibrations.
Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Job conditions may require standing, walking, making visual inspections, lifting and / or carrying up to 10lbs, and ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid state drivers license and proof of insurance required.
