PSA BDP serves over 5, customers, including some of the world's leading multinational companies within the chemical, retail & consumer, life sciences & pharmaceuticals, and electric vehicle & industrial verticals.

PSA / BDP International has an opening for a Global Head of Ocean Transport where you will manage, control and develop the Ocean Freight business activities globally in accordance with the group business strategy and local business environment to deliver maximum profit and optimize business assets while achieving targets for Ocean Freight as per budgets in the countries.

In this Global Head of Ocean Transport position

  • You will identify and develop potential, sustainable customer and carrier relationships.
  • You will lead in engagements and strategic carrier and customer interfaces with Key Account contacts.
  • You will provide leadership in the areas of product and business development, resource utilization, Country organization and activities as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will support and co-ordinate the development, implementation and localization of key initiatives and programs as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will facilitate and support Global efforts in maintaining healthy relationships with trade bodies and government agencies & authorities.
  • You will establish KPI’s and obtain agreement & commitment from your direct reports as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will carry out contact / negotiation according to corporate policy as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will carry out contract / relationship and performance management as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will interact with commercial team (at a regional level) in terms of pricing.
  • You will define, implement, monitor, and enforce service and quality standards, in cooperation with product management (in Regional Office) as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will be responsible for EBIT result at country / country group level for the ocean transportation product.
  • You will have P & L responsibility for Ocean Freight and ensure Ocean Freight delivers to agreed budget.
  • You will ensure Ocean Freight compliance with industry and internal policies and standards.
  • You will be participating in customer solutions development and implementation of new accounts as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will ensure Ocean Freight is optimal resourced to meet service standards.
  • You will visit customers to maintain customer relationships, research customer needs and monitor customer satisfaction as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will monitor the Ocean Freight customer and shipment profitability.
  • You will oversee and assist with estimates and RFQs / tenders as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will grow Ocean Freight revenue and market share in collaboration with sales and operations.
  • You will produce weekly, monthly reports and other ad-hoc reports as required by management.
  • You will determine organization’s structure, roles and responsibility and performance targets for the function as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will develop a culture of quality, service excellence (for internal customers), flexibility and cost consciousness.
  • You will conduct performance appraisal, including coaching.
  • You will manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets as it relates to ocean transportation product.
  • You will identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.

Exemption Type Exempt (Salaried) Job Requirements

  • Degree in Business Management or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years leadership experience in the Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Ocean Freight Director in a reputed organization
  • Ability to travel Internationally and manage others in different time zones
