All of our Licensed Vet Techs should be ready to :

- Animal Restraint : Developing skills for restraint of patients for diagnostic procedures (i.e. ultrasonography, radiology), sample collection, assist with medical procedures.
Develop skills to restrain fractious and anxious patients in a safe and humane manner.
Animal Husbandry : Has a love of animals and can optimize their comfort in a safe and hygienic environment during treatment and hospitalization.
Employee understands that ensuring patient hygiene includes cleaning kennels and they will come in to contact with urine, feces, and other bodily fluids.
- Client Communication and Relationships : Must treat clients and patients in a friendly and compassionate demeanor while respecting and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Facility Management : Ensure treatment rooms, kennels, surgical and dental suites, exam rooms, and any other areas of the hospital are kept clean and tidy.
Ensure supplies are restocked, laundry is maintained, and order is unpacked.
- Computer Software knowledge : Develop proficiency in Avimark and Microsoft applications.
- Must demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Medical Records Management : Employee must understand that record keeping is vital to proper patient care and ensures all notations are being entered into the medical record.
- Act as a liaison between Veterinarian and Veterinary Technicians to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Comply with hospital standards, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Instrument reprocessing : Understand aseptic techniques including cleaning, folding, and wrapping of all surgical materials, and instruments.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Develop an understanding of basic veterinary topics including vaccinations, basic lab tests, common diseases, parasite prevention and treatment as well as common pet behavior.
- Maintain equipment used to complete job assignments and keeping such equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Obtaining patient history (including, but not limited to, collecting prior veterinary records, vaccine histories, etc.)
- Answer phones as required.
- Attendance of all scheduled staff meetings and employee evaluations
- Be empathetic to our clients, coworkers, and yourself.
- Be willing to be part of a workplace where truly appreciating each other is more than some motivational poster on the wall.
