WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Housing Assistant will provide on-site assistance to Housing Coordinator(s) and Housing Manager in securing and setup of housing.
The primary goal is to support Housing Coordinators in setup activities and tasks related to resettlement. This role involves moving household items and furniture items, light apartment cleaning and other housing tasks as directed by Housing Coordinator(s) and Housing Manager in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in setup of housing secured by Housing department including but not limited to light cleaning, moving furniture items using box truck (Cargo Van, 10', 15', or 20' van), shopping for household items and transport items into apartments.
- Meet with outside vendors such as delivery workers, gas and electric technicians and landlords regarding housing needs and requirements as directed by Housing Coordinator.
- Support Housing Coordinator with administrative tasks including but not limited to application for utilities, sending and receiving of housing documents to case workers or outside agency vendors, and filing of documentation in appropriate location.
- Assist case workers and housing coordinator with move in procedure with clients from hotel to permanent housing.
- Attend and participate in required trainings and meetings as directed by Housing Manager.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field or related experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, housing services, or a related field. Experience working with low-income families and / or families from disparate cultural backgrounds highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
- Empathetic, patient, and culturally sensitive.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to social justice and serving vulnerable populations.
This position requires travel between sites and therefore, you must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and liability insurance in the amount of $100,000 / $300,000.
Also, if hired, you must produce evidence of having received the Covid-19 vaccination.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary range of $19.00 to $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The above pay range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, background, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
