PrideStaff has an immediate position for a Quality Control Tech in San Marcos, CA
Job Description :
1. Approve and record compounding and production batches.
2. Understand how to read compounding batch cards as they relate to quality control specifications.
3. Test and record viscosity / PH / density / specific gravity on batch card.
4. Check compounding batch sample (product that is being made in compounding) against standard retain sample (product that has been approved and filed) for form, odor, color, and appearance.
5. Approve compounding batch sample if it matches standard retain and complies within standard specification range.
6. If compounding batch sample does not comply, notify chemist and notify supervisor of any changes needed to be made by giving a copy of the batch card with the changes listed on it.
Create a quick reference guide for all formulas listing QC issues / fixes / adjustments (within the batch card file) also state if a longer time is needed to meet specifications.
List adjustments, evaluations of why the problem occurred and the remedy used if QC issue arises again the formula and procedure must be permanently revised.
7. If the batch passes QC : fill a 1 oz retain jar with the product and label lid with the product name and batch #, fill out a Green Approved sticker (fill in the product name, batch #, lab formula #, size of batch, initial and date) and give to compounding.
8. File 1 oz compounding retain samples per month in a 10x10x8 box.
9. File batch cards under corresponding file in lab cabinet and note batch card results on Bulk QC Report in the front of each file.
10. Create new folders for new products (new products are printed on green batch cards). Product revisions are printed on yellow batch cards and are filed in existing folders.
11. Create new standard retain specs for all newest approved products. Standard Retain Specs are in 2 oz jars accompanied by a pantone color chip, affix corresponding pantone chip on formula file folder next to product heading.
Pantone color chips are used as a visual specification to measure the compounding batch color against.
12. Fill a 2 oz. jar with product and label cap and jar. Assign a pantone chip (from Pantone color book) to the new standard retain sample and use clear tape to affix pantone chip to the retain jar.
Hold product to natural light to match pantone color). File new sample under product base (i.e. Shampoo, Conditioner, Moist Bath Gel, etc.).
13. Replace any missing standard retain samples or standard retain samples that are dated over 6 months with the new, approved batch.
Any product retain that needs to change more often needs to be noted & logged in Quick Reference Guide.
14. Empty product out of the old standard retain jars and thoroughly clean with hot water and soap and sanitize with alcohol.
Recycle old lid in recycle bin.
15. Put completed batch cards for the day in order and check for missing numbers before filing.
16. For cases of missing batch numbers, check compounding log to find the missing product and retrieve batch card to be filed.
17. Notify integrity of any new batch card or batch card changes / additions relating to formula or product specs (such as missing Viscosity / PH / density, characteristics, procedures).
18. Check batch weight in tank and drums on batch card; that compounding has put the value in pounds on batch card notify supervisor of any discrepancy from tank to drum.
19. Ensure that the scale of formulas is changed in the batch card system (if color or viscosity, etc. is having to be adjusted two or more times).
Note changes in file date problem resolution.
20. Check Daily lab schedule for tasks listed will be task requirements & deadlines who’s project it is problem with timeline needs to be brought to the project lead by 10am after reviewing project bring completed project to Integrity with formula, procedure, specifications, and all new raw material requirements listed on the pink new raw form .
