1.0 Position Title :
Logistics Optimization Coordinator
2.0 Nature & Objective :
The Logistics Optimization Coordinator will support the Logistics Optimization Manager in procuring and suggesting loads for assignment to trucks delivering outside of their home terminal's region- increasing driver pay by decreasing unloaded miles.
The Logistics Optimization Center will operate independently of, but in close contact with, the terminals, which will have ultimate control over their drivers' work schedules.
The Logistics Optimization Center will control certain lanes and loads when in Ergon Trucking's best interest to do so.
Developing geographical specific plans to ensure service standards are achieved in the most economical means possible. Direct use of company assets and Independent Contractors.
Reduce partial and empty dispatches managing freight flow and resources. Coordination with each terminal to maximize loaded miles.
3.0 Reports to :
Logistics Optimization Manager
4.0 Position Qualifications :
- 4 year college degree preferred
- 5 years of experience in the tank truck industry preferred or 10 in trucking industry.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and Environmental rules and regulations as well as terminal operations
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Good computer skills (Microsoft office) : TMW (Or Equivalent) experience a plus
- Strong analytical and problem- solving skills
5.0 Responsibilities include the following :
- Generate load opportunities through existing and new customers.
- Coordinate with terminal personnel to maximize loaded mile ratio of equipment whenever possible.
- Monitor order data to detect short term business spikes within and between regions, and shift resources as necessary.
- Recognize and report long term changes to the Ergon network (Increase and decrease lane density)
- Develop and maintain Logistics Optimization reports- Weekly and monthly basis
- Develop new customers in areas where we have inbound drivers and unutilized equipment.
- Serve as a customer service arm to all customers when needs arise outside of our terminal areas.
