Under the direction of the Sr. Coding Manager, this position will perform Cancer registry responsibilities that comply with the regulations set forth by the Commission on Cancer.
This position will include research, analysis, and reporting of collected data compiled by documentation contained in the medical record.
Responsible for maintaining databases of cancer information that are used to research cancer prevention and treatment methods.
These activities can be conducted by examining records to detect cancer earlier, improve treatments, and increase survival rates.
The examination of medical and pathology records to determine patient eligibility for the cancer registry will be performed.
Hourly Pay Rate : $29.70
This is a POOL position.
Qualifications
Education :
Requires a high school diploma or GED.
Experience :
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Tumor Registrar.
Specialized Training :
Must have Cancer Registry training.
Certification / Licensure :
Prefer certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
- Requires the ability to operate a computer in a Windows environment.
- Must possess good verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills, including basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation knowledge.
- Requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality standards.
- Initiative, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred.
