Title : Accountant I
Department : UMCP Accounting
Job Summary
Accountant role is responsible for collaborating with the Finance Director and other Accountants to ensure compliance in maintaining financial records.
Availability Requirements :
- Ability to work 40 hours per week
- 8-5 Monday Friday
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to :
- Reconcile account ledgers, journal entries, and bank accounts
- Participate in audit reviews
- Assess financial impact of services, programs, and monitor financial
cost for ongoing services
Prepare documents / reports in response to inquiries from state, federal,
or third party payers
- Create and maintain statistical reports
- Assist in routine operations and special projects within the accounting
department
All other related duties assigned under accounting
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 2 years of experience in public accounting, preferably healthcare
environment
- 2 years analyzing data using spreadsheets
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations

Skills and Abilities
- Able to articulate applied principles and procedures of Accounting
- Numerical ability to perform rapid and accurate arithmetic
computations with or without adding machine / calculator
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and
Powerpoint)
- Ability to operate computer and calculator by touch
- Good attention to detail; Ability to post and compute figures and
prepare financial statements following standard methods and
procedures
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
The person in this role will have interactions with other accountants, clinic managers, and senior level management.
Physical Capabilities
Occasionally exerts a small amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects. Should be able to lift 10 lbs.
Work involves sitting for prolonged periods of time. Hearing acuity is required to be able to accurately transact business dealings.

This position is subject to inside environmental conditions, including variations in temperature.
