WSP is growing and we have an exciting career opportunity for a Lead Water Resources Engineer to join our Central Mountain operation.

The Denver Water Service Line has an excellent reputation and supports a broad variety of project work across the US and internationally.

These projects include FEMA Risk MAP (Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning) activities, transportation drainage, environmental engineering, dam breach hazard analyses, and other specialized water resources projects.

Do you enjoy managing projects and mentoring a great team of junior engineers? It’s a plus if you have experience in local municipal water projects including flood studies, master plans, stream restoration or other water related projects.

Your Impact

  • Join an established project team completing projects that include tasks such as the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models, flood hazard mitigation analysis, risk data analysis, GIS analysis, and preparation of planning reports.
  • Leverage advanced hydraulic modeling skills to support multi-disciplinary projects including transportation drainage design, dam breach and hazard classification, river / stream / habitat restoration and fish passage, erosion control, and sediment transport.
  • Task management including resource management and mentoring and oversight of junior staff.
  • Review hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to ensure technical quality of deliverables.
  • Foster collaboration and participate in technical discussions with team members.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others by expressing ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non-engineering audiences by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations, and project documentation.
  • Work with marketing staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree required, MS preferred.
  • Colorado PE required.
  • CFM is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills regarding hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and commonly used software.
  • 7 - 10 years + of hydrology / hydraulics and water resources / civil experience.
  • Local municipal experience including stream restoration, flood studies and master plans is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program and FEMA flood insurance study regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • AutoCAD and / or MicroStation a plus.
  • Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

Compensation and Benefits : WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary : Colorado only $130,000 - $165,000.

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and / or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
