POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Public Relations professional to join our team to assist in managing the team’s communications efforts.

The ideal candidate will play a part in managing the team's public image, executing marketing and partner-related communication plans, and serve as a liaison between the team and the media.

This role involves coordinating and planning events such as drivers schedules, team announcements, implementing the team’s communication strategies, assisting in reporting, and working to build internal relationships as well as with partners, media members, and the sanctioning body.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Implement comprehensive PR strategies in collaboration with other communications team members to enhance the team’s brand image and public presence while working proactively and strategically with the marketing and partnership team
  • Coordinate driver’s schedule both at-track and during the week with other team members to include all media obligations, appearances, and competition related requirements
  • Assist with all media requests for driver and other team members, both at track and during the week, to include weekly requests from NASCAR, broadcast partners, and at-track obligations among others ensuring alignment with the team’s overall schedule and objectives
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and executing events such as team announcements, press conferences, media days, and fan engagement activities
  • Draft and edit media notes, talking points and other communications materials for internal and external use
  • Travel with the team as needed to support PR activities
  • Execute on-site appearances for driver and partners as appropriate
  • Provide internal stakeholders with a high-level of customer service, support and information sharing
  • Monitor media coverage and provide reports to team leadership on the effectiveness of PR initiatives
  • Maintain strong relationships with media outlets, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the creation of engaging written content / stories, headlines and other copy for the team website
  • Work collaboratively with partnership management and partner representatives to ensure that all partner related goals are being met
  • Support the creation of media summaries and assist with generating reports for partners as they pertain to your position
  • Assist with ensuring driver and all team members have required sponsor and participating partner logos and apparel
  • Stay up to date with communications trends and best practices
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE and ABILITIES

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies :

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, PR, marketing or related field required
  • 2-4 years of experience in a public relations, communications, journalism, or marketing is required
  • Experience in the sports industry is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to do media outreach and related networking
  • Deadline-oriented, inquisitive, with great follow-up skills
  • Ability to self-edit work for adherence to brand guidelines, AP style and digital content best practices
  • Ability to work on medium to long term strategy and execute plans in addition to day-to-day tasks
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with executive management and personnel of all levels
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Skills to work independently, and operate well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to proactively drive execution and results
