Position Summary : The Director Transportation supervises, implements and develops the transportation services of KVC.
Education : Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college / university
Certification / Licensure : Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Experience : Previous experience with children and family services preferred.
Job Duties / Responsibilities :
- Continue to build a child welfare system that is safe, secure and stable; family centered; connected to the community; and which relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services in Kansas
- Develop a competency based training program for new employees
- Supervise the transportation team
- Develop and disseminate transportation protocols
- Participate in establishment of performance outcomes for transportation services
- Establish transportation request and dispatch system
- Review critical incidents relating to transportation, complete follow-up reports and develop corrective action plans as appropriate
- Implement scheduling, on call, and immediate response plans to ensure timeliness of transports
- Ensure compliance with all appropriate transportation laws and regulatory standards
- Review initial training orientation and periodic in-service training for employees
- Attend required meetings as assigned
- Complete and submit required reports, MIS data, variance follow-up and other designated information on a timely basis
- Complete related in-service training annually
- Monitor driver’s vehicles to ensure vehicle passes inspection at least twice a year.
- Monitor child safety seat usage and inspect child safety seats every 6 months, replacing as needed
- Enhance driving techniques for KVC drivers and staff
- Monitor process for billing Medicaid for non-ambulance medical transports
- Immediately notify applicable leadership of a variance, critical incident, accident and / or injury of staff or child / youth, or investigations
- Conduct regular staff meetings
- Work with subordinates, peers, and supervisor to accomplish established goals
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and training of new employees
- Exhibit a level of courtesy and professionalism
- Ensure confidentiality
- Provide on-call services when needed
- Serve as a mandated reporter of suspected abuse / neglect
