Chelsea Infusion Center, Medical Assistant - Contingent

Employment Type : Part timeShift : Day ShiftDescription : Medical Assistant (CMA / RMA)Location : Trinity Health Chelsea Infusion CenterContingent- Qualified candidates must be able to complete full-time training (Monday-Friday) for 2-3 weeks.

Upon completion of the required training flexibility to pick up 1-2 days per week (Monday-Friday, 7am-430pm) is required*This is not a summer only positionREQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION / LICENSURECMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA, certification through an NCCA accredited program or is eligible to register to take the exam through one of the approved providers prior to date of hire, and successfully attains CMA, RMA, CCMA or NCMA certification within 6 months from date of hire.

The approved provider list includes the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National HealthCareer Association (NHA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

2 years previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.Formal education in medical terminology and anatomy & physiology preferredPOSITION PURPOSEUnder physician direction and supervision, prepares patients for office visit, takes vital signs and records in medical record, obtains patient chief complaint, escorts patient to exam room, and prepares patient for physician visit.

Insert, clean, monitor Ports for infusion therapy.Start IV's and draw ordered labs.Assures patients are ready in the exam rooms for procedure.

Reviews patient medical record to assure that all needed test results, forms and reports are available to physician / provider.

Assists physicians / providers with procedures and processes specimens according to established procedures.Assures that clinical areas and drug sample areas are maintained according to Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.

Maintains exam rooms to ensure supplies are present and that room and equipment is in working order and in clean condition.

May be required to assist with patient phone triage.May assist with medication, laboratory and radiology order entry (including ECGs) into the EHR if a credentialed Medical Assistant through an approved ICE NCCA provider.

If not credentialed at time of hire, must obtain certification within six months from the date of hire, and cannot perform this job duty until certification is obtained.
