Job Summary
The Summer Preparedness and Readiness Course (SPaRC) is a three-week program generally held in June, before the start of the academic year.
SPaRC is designed to prepare incoming non-traditional students for the rigors of their chosen program by providing an introduction to applicable basic medical science courses, efficient academic learning skills, and wellbeing competencies in an interprofessional setting.
Under direction, the TA will work with the entire cohort. The TA is required to be available during the Medical Gross Anatomy (MGA) lecture and lab portions of the course.
Additional participation in the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or Skeletal System course is expected, as well as other program specific needs.
This position will also adhere to LEAD guidelines as well as follow LEAD documentation policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Good verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with faculty, staff, students, and any outside contacts.
2. Excellent computer skills to use various related software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, and other software programs required by the position.
Must have a good working knowledge of the Internet. Required Qualifications 1. Education : Bachelor’s Degree required
2. Have completed one year of doctoral or professional experience.
3. Must be an admitted student at Western University of Health Sciences in good academic standing. List comments regarding work hours two-week prep time ( up to 4 hrs) plus 3-week assignment -9 a.

- Complete initial orientation and training.
- Attend all SPaRC content-planning meetings. Percentage Of Time 15% Job Duty - Create and deliver daily lecture.
- Create, administer, and review exams. Percentage Of Time 50% Job Duty -Through facilitation, develop an atmosphere of mutual trust and support within the SPaRC cohort.
Percentage Of Time 25% Job Duty - Collaborate with LEAD and SPaRC content professor to handle any student issues (academic, professional, or personal).
- Perform additional duties related to supporting SPaRC operations. Percentage Of Time 10%
