Job Description

The Genius Sports Product Team is looking for an exceptional Senior Product Manager to drive innovation in the sports data collection domain.

As a part of the Sports Tech product team, you will work with leading global leagues (e.g., NFL, EPL, NCAA, FIFA, FIBA, CEV, etc.

and teams to build, enhance, and maintain a variety of products that enable the creation, operation, management, and analysis of sports data around the world.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on modern data-driven B2B SaaS software solutions with a proven ability to deliver user-first scalable products in a highly collaborative environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for a suite of sports tech management products that enable leagues to collect play-by-play actions from the playing field.

Often this collection experience will be combined with innovative computer vision tracking and machine learned auto eventing, technologies which are transforming the sports data industry.

This data is harnessed to deliver advanced analytics and optimize future team and player performance. This is an opportunity to leverage innovative computer vision tracking technology to transform the sports data industry.

As a Senior Product Manager at Genius, you will also focus on developing, refining, and evangelizing a clear product roadmap, managing cross-functional stakeholders, and optimizing product processes to ensure measurable outcomes.

This role will rely heavily on data : defining KPIs that drive business results, measuring product performance with dashboards and making data driven decisions using qualitative and quantitative analysis.

This role is based in our recently opened, global center, New York City office. Located in midtown Manhattan, amongst the iconic skyline, you'll be immersed in cultural richness that inspires innovation and creativity.

Job Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for the Senior Product Manager, Data Collection include the following :

Build, Maintain, and Grow our Stats / Data Collection Lifecycle

Understand customer needs, develop requirements, and build human and computer-vision driven tools for collecting real-time sporting event data (passes, rushes, touchdowns, turnovers, etc.

at the team and individual player levels.

  • Understand each phase of the holistic data collection lifecycle and develop measurable milestones to transition the process from manual to automated collection.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and business teams to ensure delivery of sports tech initiatives on time and on budget.
  • Provide strategic direction to the sports tech product team helping them to identify data-informed, long-term investment opportunities, evaluating tradeoffs, and prioritizing investments in consultation with cross divisional partners for feature(s) / feature areas.
  • Balance investments across a portfolio of data collection solutions cutting across 3 Horizons (Now, Next, Future).

Position Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant product management experience.
  • Product management experience building B2B SaaS or other relevant software applications : understanding functional requirements and building for scale.
  • Strong grasp of product lifecycle mechanisms : discovery, analysis, defining and driving OKRs, ideation, prioritization, including backlog management (user stories, epics and bugs), delivering measurable outcomes that drive success.
  • Extensive background collaborating with UX design partners to build intuitive user-first experiences.
  • Strong background in BI and / or analytics required; experience working on data-oriented products preferred.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership, participating in the sales cycle, and handling sensitive, critical issues.
  • Experience working in and delivering products or services in an agile / lean environment.
  • Proficiency in gathering and transforming product requirements into a practical product roadmap.
  • Prior experience as a sports statistician & passion for sports is a plus.
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required.

The salary for this role is based on an annualized range of $165,000 - $200,000 USD. This role will also be eligible to take part in Genius Sports Group's benefits plan.
