Responsibilities
- Escorts patient and family to and from examination room.
- Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Acquires anatomical, pathological, and / or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
- Maintains patient charts and records, and records / processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
- Creates a preliminary report for physician review / signature.
- Reviews studies with physicians.
- Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
- Codes appropriate for services performed.
- Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.
- Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Maintains laundry for examination rooms.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
- Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
- Follows and complies with universal precautions and OSHA standards.
- Follows and complies with safety and security training.
- Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
- Performs related and other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be ARDMS certified in OB / Gyn.
- Nuchal translucency / Nasal bone experience preferred, but not required.
- Fetal echo experience a plus, but not required.
- Candidate must be a great team player, willing to learn with our group of sonographers and physicians who work well together.
- Our practice follows AIUM guidelines and is accredited in OB and detailed scans, as well as fetal echocardiography.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPR certification required.
- Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
