Description :
The City of Portland is recruiting a highly experienced engagement professional to serve as the Engagement Officer (Director I).
This position is crucial as Portland prepares for significant organizational changes, including the implementation of a new mayor / council government structure.
Position Summary :
The Engagement Officer will provide citywide strategic and programmatic direction for community engagement initiatives. Responsibilities include :
- Leading the Office of Community and Civic Life, focusing on diverse and culturally specific programs.
- Managing staff and budget effectively to promote equitable engagement practices.
- Developing and executing organization-wide engagement strategies.
- Advising City leadership on engagement plans and policies.
- Building partnerships with regional community engagement leaders.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Knowledge and experience in operationalizing community engagement.
- Experience with managing organizational transformation.
- Personnel management and budget administration experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in public settings.
- Experience collaborating with underrepresented communities.
