SUMMARY :
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing material using our MRP system for parts, equipment, and service to support the organizational requirements and needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Purchase material using MRP
- Mainly bar stock, billets and sheet metal
- Establish best order quantities based on demand and forecast
- Update open purchase orders in the company’s MRP system as needed to revise delivery dates, part revisions, or any other changes necessary to keep the information current
- Proactively manages vendors with regular follow-up on open orders, ensuring on-time delivery and quality of material
- Negotiates best conditions : Price, Lead Time, Quality, shipping costs all being considered
- Develop positive relationships and effective communications with existing supplier base
- Assist the organization in other areas to improve overall company efficiency
- Works closely with suppliers on cost savings opportunity based on part dimensioning, surface finish and material type
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements : QUALIFICATIONS :
QUALIFICATIONS :
- 2+ years Purchasing experience
- Prior use in using an MRP system to make purchases
- Ability to interpret 2D drawings
- Prior Experience working with Machine Shops is a plus
- Associates degree from a two-year college or applicable experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Familiarity with ERP / MRP and computer inventory systems
- Proficient with computer based programs such as Excel, Word, Access, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively interdepartmentally and externally with vendors and subcontractors in day to day decisions
